It is on the shores of Last Mountain Lake in the Rural Municipality of McKillop No. 220. Island View incorporated as a resort village on January 1, 1994.[2] In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Island View had a population of 134 living in 71 of its 251 total private dwellings, a change of 81.1% from its 2016 population of 74. With a land area of 0.45 km2 (0.17 sq mi), it had a population density of 297.8/km2 (771.2/sq mi) in 2021.[4] In the 2016 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the Resort Village of Island View recorded a population of 74 living in 39 of its 237 total private dwellings, a 13.8% change from its 2011 population of 65.
