The RM of Elcapo No. 154 incorporated as a rural municipality on December 12, 1910.[2] The bigmouth buffalo (Ictiobus cyprinellus) is a species of special concern to environmentalists in this area.[5] The following urban municipalities are surrounded by the RM. The following unincorporated communities are within the RM. In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the RM of Elcapo No. 154 had a population of 392 living in 153 of its 174 total private dwellings, a change of -19.7% from its 2016 population of 488. With a land area of 824.3 km2 (318.3 sq mi), it had a population density of 0.5/km2 (1.2/sq mi) in 2021.[8] In the 2016 Census of Population, the RM of Elcapo No. 154 recorded a population of 488 living in 193 of its 200 total private dwellings, a 1.5% change from its 2011 population of 481.
