The Rural Municipality of Nipawin No. 487 (2016 population: 1,004) is a rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within Census Division No. 14 and SARM Division No. 4. The RM of Nipawin No. 487 incorporated as a rural municipality on December 9, 1912.[2] The following urban municipalities are surrounded by the RM. The following unincorporated communities are within the RM. In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the RM of Nipawin No. 487 had a population of 958 living in 391 of its 467 total private dwellings, a change of -4.6% from its 2016 population of 1,004. With a land area of 879.63 km2 (339.63 sq mi), it had a population density of 1.1/km2 (2.8/sq mi) in 2021.[7] In the 2016 Census of Population, the RM of Nipawin No. 487 recorded a population of 1,004 living in 401 of its 440 total private dwellings, a -2.5% change from its 2011 population of 1,030. With a land area of 886.04 km2 (342.10 sq mi), it had a population density of 1.1/km2 (2.9/sq mi) in 2016.[4] The RM of Nipawin No. 487 is governed by an elected municipal council and an appointed administrator that meets on the second Tuesday of every month.[3] The reeve of the RM is Dona Hoppe while its administrator is Nathalie Hipkins.[3] The RM’s office is located in Codette.[3] The RM is home to the Nipawin Hydroelectric Station.
