Some acreages check a few boxes. This one checks nearly all of them. Set on 5.67 beautifully treed acres just 17 minutes east of Red Deer, this custom-built Stan Hunter home offers a combination that's becoming increasingly difficult to find—a spacious family home, an oversized heated attached garage, a detached 3-car Garage, fenced pastures, exceptional privacy, and a peaceful setting surrounded by mature trees. Built with family living in mind, the 2,824 Sq.Ft. two-storey offers 4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Bathrooms, An Office/Den, nearly 4,000 Sq.Ft. of developed living space, and thoughtful details throughout. Triple-pane windows, insulated interior walls and floors for sound reduction, two gas fireplaces, extensive storage, and quality construction create a home that feels solid, comfortable, and exceptionally well cared for. From the oversized mudroom with built-in lockers to the spacious bedrooms and flexible main floor office, every space was designed to support the realities of everyday life. The kitchen serves as the heart of the home with an abundance of cabinetry, generous counter space, under-cabinet lighting, a huge walk-through pantry, and sightlines to the main living areas. Upstairs, the primary suite offers a true retreat with a vaulted ceiling, large walk-in closet with built-in drawers, dual vanities, an oversized soaker tub, dual shower heads, and a private water closet. Two additional bedrooms each feature walk-in closets and private vanity areas connected by a Jack and Jill bathroom, giving everyone their own space without sacrificing functionality. The fully developed basement continues the home's impressive footprint with a large family room, second gas fireplace, wet bar, full-sized refrigerator, an additional bedroom, a full bathroom, and an incredible laundry and storage area. Outside is where this property truly shines. Mature trees surround the yard, creating a level of privacy that's difficult to replicate. Spend summer evenings around the stamped concrete firepit, relax in the gazebo, enjoy coffee on the wraparound front or back verandas, savour a quiet meal on the spacious rear patio, or watch kids and pets explore the beautifully maintained grounds. The property was recognized with the Red Deer County Rural Beautification Small Acreage Award, reflecting the pride of ownership evident throughout. For those wanting space for animals, hobbies, equipment, or recreational toys, the setup is already in place. Three connected fenced pastures, a frost-free hydrant, livestock shelter, feed storage, handling corral, oversized heated attached garage and detached triple garage, both 220V service, provides flexibility for a wide range of acreage lifestyles. Rarely does a property combine this level of privacy, space, functionality, and care in such a convenient location. Move-in ready and exceptionally maintained, this is an acreage designed not only for how you live today, but for the years ahead.

Stettler Alberta Information

Stettler is a town in east-central Alberta, Canada that is surrounded by the County of Stettler No. 6. Stettler was founded in 1905 and was named after Swiss immigrant Carl Stettler, who also founded a settlement east of the town at Blumenau, as well as being influential in the nearby community of Castor. He also served on the first Town Council of Stettler. Stettler experiences a humid continental climate (Köppen climate classification Dfb). In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the Town of Stettler had a population of 5,695 living in 2,384 of its 2,574 total private dwellings, a change of -4.3% from its 2016 population of 5,952. With a land area of 13.19 km2 (5.09 sq mi), it had a population density of 431.8/km2 (1,118.3/sq mi) in 2021.[3] In the 2016 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the Town of Stettler recorded a population of 5,952 living in 2,415 of its 2,607 total private dwellings, a 3.5% change from its 2011 population of 5,748. With a land area of 13.14 km2 (5.07 sq mi), it had a population density of 453.0/km2 (1,173.2/sq mi) in 2016.[10] The population of the Town of Stettler according to its 2008 municipal census is 5,843.[11] The median household income in 2005 for Stettler was $56,201, which is below the Alberta provincial average of $63,988.[12] Alberta Prairie Railway Excursions is in Stettler, offering rail tours on a line from Stettler to Big Valley, a 35 km (22 mi), one-hour trip. In addition, Stettler has a historic Parrish & Heimbecker grain elevator overlooking the railway tracks. One of the last elevators in Alberta and the only survivor of the three elevators that previously operated in Stettler. It operates as a museum and also houses a 1887 Heeber and Son’s Little Giant threshing machine, a 1912 International Harvester hit-and-miss engine called the Beast and a 1940s Ford tractor called Mickey Mouse. All run (including the elevator’s “leg”) and in 2016 the Little Giant travelled to Winnipeg and joined more than 150 other threshing machines that claimed a Guinness World Records record for the most threshing machines operating simultaneously.[13] The Little Giant had the distinction of being the oldest one there and possibly may be one of the oldest still working threshing machines. There is also a county museum featuring the original town train station which was moved and other historic buildings. The Jewel Theatre was built in 1952. The movie theatre was renovated in 2021 to become a 200-seat theatre.[citation needed] As of 2022, the mayor is Sean Nolls, and the councillors are Cheryl Barros, Kurt Baker, Travis Randell, Gord Lawlor, Scott Pfeiffer, and Wayne Smith.[2] The town has two schools in the Clearview Public Schools school district: Stettler Elementary School, and William E. Hay Stettler Secondary Campus.[14] Christ King Catholic School is part of the East Central Catholic School Division.[citation needed] Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stettler,_Alberta

Topsoil depth is a critical factor for agricultural productivity, influencing water retention, nutrient availability, and root growth. The provided map of Alberta illustrates the topsoil depth in inches, highlighting significant regional variations. This analysis is based on data from the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) Soil Landscapes of Canada (SLC) Version 3.2.

Key Observations

The topsoil depth in Western Alberta and the Rockies is generally shallow, ranging from 0 to 6 inches. This is due to the rugged terrain and erosional processes associated with mountainous regions. The shallow topsoil in these areas supports forests and natural vegetation rather than extensive agriculture.

Central Alberta, including areas around Edmonton and Red Deer, exhibits moderate to deep topsoil depths, generally between 8 to 14 inches. These depths are conducive to productive agriculture, supporting a variety of crops. The deeper topsoil in central regions contributes to higher agricultural yields and sustainable farming practices.

In Southern and Eastern Alberta, regions such as Calgary and areas towards the Saskatchewan border show variable topsoil depths ranging from 6 to 10 inches. While suitable for agriculture, these areas may require careful soil management to maintain productivity. Areas with shallower topsoil are more drought-resistant and may need irrigation and soil conservation practices.

Regional Analysis

The Rocky Mountain Influence is evident in the shallow topsoil of the Rocky Mountain foothills, resulting from the rocky and rugged terrain, limiting soil accumulation. These areas are more suited to forest growth and natural vegetation rather than intensive agriculture.

In contrast, the Prairie Conditions in central Alberta benefit from moderate to deep topsoil, which is ideal for crop production and supports Alberta’s agricultural economy. Maintaining topsoil depth through conservation practices is essential for sustaining long-term agrarian productivity in these areas.

Implications for Agriculture

Understanding topsoil depth is crucial for effective soil management practices, including crop selection, irrigation, and fertilization. Farmers can use this data to optimize their farming practices, choosing crops suited to the available topsoil depth and implementing appropriate soil conservation measures. Deeper topsoil improves water retention and nutrient availability, which is essential for healthy crop growth and high yields.

Conclusion

The topsoil depth map of Alberta reveals significant regional variations influenced by geographical features such as the Rocky Mountains and the fertile plains of central Alberta. Understanding these variations is crucial for optimizing agricultural practices and ensuring sustainable farming. By leveraging this data, farmers can improve crop yields, manage soil health, and enhance overall agrarian productivity in Alberta.
